"Document Management Using Fuzzy Technology"

At this Pub Talk, Vijay Rangarajan will discuss how Rebus Technology
offers a unique way of searching and retrieving any type of documents
by using its patented full-text Fuzzy search technology. Fuzzy search
technology is especially useful when searching paper and fax-based
documents that may contain misspelled or run-together words resulting
from the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) process. With the proliferation
of digital copiers in business environments, which can be used as
document filing and distribution systems, it becomes all the more
important for applications to have Fuzzy search capabilities.
ABOUT VIJAY RANGARAJAN
Vijay Rangarajan is the chief architect of Rebus technology and
has been involved in image processing and pattern recognition technologies
since 1983. He has designed and managed the development of several
successful products in the areas of scanning, OCR, and document
management technologies since 1984. As a project manager at Caere
Corporation, he helped design and manage the industry's most successful
OCR product, OmniPage from conceptualization through three releases
for both PC and Macintosh platforms. As a software design engineer
at DEST Corporation, Mr. Rangarajan helped design the software for
the first successful desktop scanner in 1985. He is a recipient
of PC Magazine's Technical Excellence award for his contribution
in the development of OmniPage product. He also holds two patents
in the areas of Fuzzy search and Automatic Page registration which
have been incorporated in the Recollect product line.
